StressCheck Tutorial: TLAP-Bearing Default vs Ignore Moments & Offsets (IMO) Case Study
Abstract: TLAP-Bearing enables tabular point forces and/or moments (i.e. TLAPs) representing fastener loads to be applied to solid element faces as sinusoidal traction (i.e. bearing) distributions.
For a case study of an aircraft fitting with loaded lug bores, the maximum 1st principal stress at the lug root and the part deformation for TLAP-Bearing: Default and TLAP-Bearing: IMO (Ignore Moments & Offsets) was studied. The differences can be significant if the locations of the TLAPs are far away from the midplanes and/or centers of the bores, and/or if there are input moments in the fastener loads.
