Hierarchic Modeling Example: Attachment Lug
Abstract: Hierarchic modeling of an attachment lug to determine the simplest model required for the detailed stress analysis. The following hierarchic modeling assumptions were explored:
- Model 1: 2D plane-stress. Bearing load simulated with sinusoidal traction – Thickness effects are ignored
- Model 2: 3D Analysis. Bearing load simulated with sinusoidal traction – Removes limitation of Model 1
- Model 3: 3D-Contact analysis. Loaded by pin bearing – Removes limitation of assumed bearing load distribution
The objective was to find the maximum normal stress in the lug component.
