  • StressCheck’s FEA technology implementation enabling modeling of very thin domains, including adhesive layers with 3D-solid elements.
  • Best practices and guidelines for modeling and analyzing 3D bonded repair doubler variations (e.g. racetrack/rectangular, circular/elliptical, tapered, metallic, ply-by-ply, homogenized, etc.) for circular cutouts and grindouts.
  • Performing “what if?” logic-driven studies of a digital 3D bonded repair handbook solution via StressCheck API-powered Engineering Simulation App, in which user-defined input data is passed from Python or Excel VBA to StressCheck Professional to perform scripted “on-the-fly” model adjustments and repair-oriented computations.

StressCheck Tutorial: Incorporating CX Residual Stresses in SIF and J-integral Extractions https://www.esrd.com/resource-library/product/stresscheck-tutorial-incorporating-cx-residual-stresses-in-sif-and-j-integral-extractions/ Thu, 14 Jul 2022 01:21:28 +0000 https://www.esrd.com/?post_type=product&p=25522 Abstract: incorporating coldworked (CX) residual stresses in the computation of fracture mechanics parameters (SIF/J-integral). The following workflow is outlined:
  1. Open existing 3D-Fracture Handbook model (CrackOpenHole-ResidualStresses.scw)
  2. Add parameters, convert material to elastic-plastic, and modify the model boundary conditions for a cold-work simulation
  3. Solve a linear solution, and then solve the cold-work simulation events via incremental plasticity
  4. Use BRS mapping to map the cold-work solution to a new part
  5. Assign BRS load and remote traction, convert material to linear-elastic, and modify constraints to represent the crack face
  6. Solve a linear analysis and extract SIF's/J-integrals

StressCheck Tutorial: 2D Bearing + Bypass Loaded Plate – Filled vs Open Offset Hole SIF’s https://www.esrd.com/resource-library/product/stresscheck-tutorial-2d-bearing-bypass-loaded-plate-filled-vs-open-offset-hole-sif/ Wed, 26 Dec 2018 19:18:28 +0000 https://esrd.com/?post_type=product&p=8754 Abstract: Using Parts and Solution Configurations to compare 2D thru-crack stress intensity factors, or SIF's, for filled and open hole bearing + bypass loaded plate configurations. The hole location is offset from the right edge of the plate, and a crack edge is defined at the right edge of the hole. The filled hole solution configuration solves a loaded fastener element in the offset hole, while the open hole solution configuration solves a bearing load distribution in the offset hole. General nonlinear analyses are performed for both solution configurations, and crack tip SIF's are extracted from the NLGen solutions using the Fracture Mechanics module.]]>
