StressCheck Tutorial: Embedding and Meshing a Parametrized Pre-Crack Initiation Surface
Abstract: Parametric modeling of an elliptical pre-crack initiation site based on the expected location and orientation of maximum first principal stress in a hole. For the detailed stress analysis, the crack is initially disabled by inactivating the associated mesh records (Crack Face and Boundary Layer). After the expected crack initiation site is determined, the part-thru crack is clocked and the mesh records are then enabled for subsequent fracture mechanics or damage tolerance analysis of the crack initiation and crack extension.
