StressCheck Tutorial: Influence of Boundary Conditions on Stress Concentrations
Abstract: For a case study of a test specimen loaded by three (3) TLAP-Bearing assignments, we will study how the local stresses in a filleted stress concentration are influenced by the boundary conditions used to equilibrate or react the TLAP-Bearing loads. The following cases will be analyzed and discussed:
- Case SOL1: the TLAP-Bearing loads are equilibrated by a uniform traction distribution at the end of the specimen.
- Case SOL2: the TLAP-Bearing loads are equilibrated by a TLAP-Traction distribution at the end of the specimen.
- Case SOL3: the TLAP-Bearing loads are reacted by symmetry constraints at the end of the specimen.
- Case SOL4: the TLAP-Bearing loads are reacted by distributed spring constraints at the end of the specimen.
