Edit Toolbar Overview
Introduction
The View > Toolbars > Edit Toolbar provides icons for quick access to object editing features which may be used to cancel selected objects, hide selected objects, unhide hidden objects, and to undo or redo previous operations. Below are brief descriptions of commonly used Edit Toolbar icons (Figure 1):
- You may undo/redo a command by clicking the Undo or Redo icon, respectively (Figure 2). The scope of undo/redo operations are discussed above in the Edit Menu section.
- The user may also display a list of the last operations in the session, and then select the extent of the undo/redo.
- You may cancel the selection of all objects (Deselect Highlighted Items icon) or a specific object type (Deselect Specific Object Type icon).
- To cancel selection of a specific object type, first set the object type by clicking the down arrow of the Select Objects icon and selecting the object type (e.g. Points, Nodes, Elements) from the list.
- You may invert the selection of objects by clicking the Invert Selection
- Objects currently selected will be deselected, and objects currently deselected will be selected.
- If the Select Through icon is enabled, all model objects will be available for Model View display area selection, even those not currently visible to the user (i.e. obscured).
- Disabling this icon will result in only currently visible objects being available for selection.
- Note: since objects highlighted for selection will paint over any other objects occupying the same space (for example, a selected element face will paint over its associated element edges), it is recommended to enable the Select Through toggle before initiating the selection process for coincident objects.
- Clicking the Select Objects icon (Figure 3) allows the user to select any object type (Any Object) from the Model View display area.
- Clicking the down arrow of the Select Objects icon allows the user to limit the selection to a specific object type (e.g. Points, Nodes, Elements, etc.).
- Clicking the Hide Objects or Unhide Objects icon allows the user to hide (blank in pre-v12.0 releases) or unhide (unblank in pre-v12.0 releases), any of the currently selected or hidden objects respectively.
- Clicking the down arrow of the Hide Objects or Unhide Objects icon allows the user to limit the hiding or unhiding to a specific object type (e.g. Points, Nodes, Elements, etc.).
- Enabling the Reveal Hidden icon will result in a green wireframe outline being drawn in place of the currently hidden objects.
- Clicking the Display Reset icon will redraw the model objects/attributes in the Model View display area.
- Display Reset will also remove any previously rendered solution plots.
